Nancy J. Councelbaum, M.D.

Dr. Councelbaum earned her bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then moved to USC, where she studied medicine, receiving her M.D. four years later. Next she trained in internal medicine at LA County Hospital / USC Medical Center, completing her internship and residency in three years. 

She was named a Diplomate, National Board of Medical Examiners in 1985, and earned the title of Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine in 1987. She gained clinical experience working with seniors in Orange County and was awarded an added qualification in Geriatric Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1994. She was recertified in 2004.

Prior to joining our staff, Dr. Councelbaum practiced for several years as an internist, gaining extensive experience both in inpatient and outpatient care. In 1996 she began her career with Women's Medical Group of Irvine, where her passion for the health care of the elderly clearly shows itself in her work with seniors who must deal with a large array of problems.  

Dr. Councelbaum lives in Irvine with her husband and two children. She loves to run, exercise, and watch her kids grow.
